Artistic Director Tony Williams is a dance pioneer and former principal dancer of the Boston Ballet. Throughout his career, he also performed with the Joffrey Ballet, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the National Ballet of Portugal, and the Norwegian National Ballet. He returned to his native Jamaica Plain following his retirement to found the Tony Williams Dance Center and produce the popular Urban Nutcracker. In 2015, he founded the Tony Williams Ballet, a racially diverse company that is reflective of the changing diversity of Boston. TWB offers innovative and entertaining works, specializing in contemporary and classical ballet. In addition to theater main stage productions, TWB performs in summer festivals such as Artbeat, Dance for World Community, and Outside the Box, providing a wide range of repertoire by choreographers such as George Balanchine, Isadora Duncan, Gianni diMarco, and Tony Williams himself. TWB is dedicated to connecting with local communities, enriching the Boston arts, and bringing dance to as many people as possible.
