An Artist's Mind's Eye
Creativity runs fluid in Somerville and this month’s exhibit celebrates that notion. “An Artist’s Mind’s Eye”, curated by Hilary Tait Norod, is a group show designed to demonstrate the complexity of creative minds within this City. Each piece depicted in this showcase expresses the internal emotions of being a creator in relation to their own Artistic Identity. Artists were selected based on their responses to this theme to achieve a cohesive narrative.
Fueled passion and devotion to their craft, this display looks to showcase works that represent inherent workings of the artist’s creative process. Each participant interpreted this theme in their own unique way. Some works play on the use of media and process in response to theme by using expressionistic layers within the pieces to enable the connection from Viewer to Artist. This natural and raw element allows one to see the brilliant and intentional craftsmanship of process from start to completion. In turn, other Artists chose to use a more literal subject matter with portraiture and self-portrait work to express this motif. All works invoke very different sentiments, exploring inner artistic identities and passions that give a glimpse into the lens of the creative mind.
